Interested in Becoming a Member of the AcSB’s new IFRS Discussion Group?

Are you interested in:
  • participating in the adoption of IFRSs in Canada?
  • debating accounting standards issues with leading accounting standards setters?
  • participating in Canada’s contribution to international accounting standards setting?

The purpose of the AcSB’s new IFRS Discussion Group (IDG) is to assist the AcSB in identifying issues arising relating to the application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) in Canada. The IDG will be a public forum in which issues arising relating to the application of IFRSs in Canada can be discussed. The IDG will make recommendations to the AcSB as to whether particular issues should be referred to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) or the IASB’s International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee.

The AcSB is seeking expressions of interest from individuals willing to volunteer to serve on the IDG. IDG members will have in-depth knowledge of IFRSs and be aware of the challenges that the application of IFRSs are creating in Canadian financial reporting. Members will be expected to identify issues arising in their own experience, as well as discuss issues identified by others. Members are sought from a variety of backgrounds, including financial statement preparers, users and auditors involved with a range of entities from large to small. Members should be prepared to participate in four-one day meetings per year and to prepare for those meetings. Out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. The working language of the IDG will be English.

Expressions of interest, together with a current resume, should be submitted to Florita Dinglasan, at florita.dinglasan@cica.ca, to be received no later than July 31, 2009.
